How to Personalize SMS on Sendar

 

The First Steps Are the Same as Sending a Message

To begin, follow the same steps as you would when sending a regular SMS:

  1. From your dashboard, navigate to the left-hand side and click on "Messages."


     
  2. Click on "SMS."


     
  3. Click the dropdown arrow beside "SMS" and select "Send SMS."


     

Choose Group Audience or Import from File

To personalize SMS, you must select either:

  • "Group Audience" – if your contacts are already uploaded into a group

     
  • "Import from File" – if you're uploading a new CSV file

     

⚠️ Personalization only works if the contact’s name is in the uploaded list.

Use Personalization Tags in Your Message

In the message body, use the tag {{First name}} wherever you want the recipient’s name to appear.

For example:

“Hi {{First name}}, don’t miss our special offer this weekend!”

Wherever you place {{First name}}, it will automatically be replaced with each contact’s actual first name from your uploaded file.

Proceed to Send Your SMS

Once your message is ready:

  • Choose your wallet type (Transactional or Promotional)
  • Select your Sender ID
  • Confirm your recipient group or uploaded file

     
  • Choose whether to send now or schedule


     
  • Click "Send"

 

That’s it! Each recipient will receive a personalized message with their name included.
